La Spaghettata, nestled on the first floor of Saddler Street in Durham, is a delightful Italian haven that has garnered rave reviews from both locals and travelers. Customers frequently mention the exceptional quality of the food, with standout dishes including the succulent Filet Steak Pizzaiola and Grilled Seabass. Diners like Candy Kwok praise the magical flavors, stating that every visit feels like a culinary treat well worth repeating. The atmosphere at La Spaghettata combines charming quirks with a spacious layout, which makes it popular among students and families alike. Though the service is typically efficient, a few patrons, such as David Smith, noted that it can feel a tad hurried, with the bill presented before they’re quite ready to leave. Nonetheless, the friendly staff and the inviting ambiance create a welcoming environment that encourages return visits. Vegetarian options are also available, further broadening the appeal of this gem. Sheryl Yu shines a spotlight on the generous portion sizes and the high-quality ingredients, especially the delightful cheeses. Overall, La Spaghettata represents great value for money, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking authentic Italian cuisine in Durham. Whether you’re indulging in calamari or enjoying a craft beer, this restaurant promises a memorable dining experience that captures the essence of Italy.

Everything’s perfect! The taste was amazing! We visit twice when travelling Durham. Highly recommended!

The food was divine, the atmosphere was exceptional, and the service was good... but a little rushed. It felt like they encouraged you to leave faster. The bill is brought without being requested, and shortly after, they bring the card machine over for payment. It wouldn't stop me coming again. It is efficient, but some breathing room would be nice to soak up the atmosphere

Excellent Italian restaurant in the centre of Durham. Up a flight of stairs, the restaurant is large with a quirky decor. Efficient, friendly service and great food. I had calamari and jumbo prawns with chorizo, which were delicious and good value. Very popular with students, and doesn't take bookings.

The entrance was a bit hidden but it is a place that you cannot miss for their amazing foods and great services. Great portion, and the food quality was beyond expectation. They also have vegeterian options and their cheese was tasty. Simple foods, however they were so satisfying. Their staff were all very lovely and friendly. Would definetely recommend this place foor food!

went in here without any prior knowledge of the place. we were greeted friendly and seated at a table for two in the corner. We didn’t get seen to for about 10 minutes for drinks , we were among agitated by this point as they’d walked past us multiple times. we eventually got our drinks. we had no menus by this point either so we were very confused what was going on. my partner after nearly half an hour of being there had went and asked if we order at the bar and if there was a proper menu, the woman apologised and said she’d thought we’d already ordered (hence why she’d walked past us multiple times) was clearly just a slight misunderstanding between staff. the food came and it was absolutely beautiful we will definitely re visit, the portions and prices are reasonable and filling. taste homemade and you even get your own pot of cheese for the pasta which my partner liked. like i said we will definitely re visit.

Good food in big portions, worth the money. We ordered the pesto penne, which was not too bad; the mushroom risotto was brilliant, the garlic bread and pizza were delicious, and the calamari was nice too. The three of us couldn’t finish all the food and brought a few takeaway boxes home after the meal—a great restaurant for lunch.

Visited her on a recent trip to Durham, it was recommended to us by our hotel staff, we came on what we thought would be a “quiet” Tuesday evening, how wrong we were! We were told by the locals it was the university end of term get together at various locations. Despite being very very busy, the waiter still found us a cosy table for 3. Lots of attentive waiters to help advise, we chose garlic cheese bread as a starter and 3 pasta meals. The garlic bread oozing with garlic was delicious. All 3 pasta meals were piping hot , plentiful and tasted wonderful! Prices very reasonable, great atmosphere too, a must for an Italian meal in Durham!
